Corpus Christi:
Corpus Christi: Although the origin of this feast is often attributed to the Angelic Doctor (St Thomas Aquinas 1225-1274), infact much of the momentum for this feast was generated by St Juliana of Leige (1193-1258). Juliana was a Norbertine canoness, and she received a number of visions from Our Lord lamenting that the Church had no great celebration of the Blessed Sacrament other than Maundy Thursday's Mass of the Lord's Supper. Although Juliana's life was scourged by rejection, she was fortunate that the priest- then Bishop-then Pope who was to believe and take forward what her visions were asking. As Pope Urban IV he gave today's feast to the Universal Church in 1264 and it has proved to do what was set our in the visions of St Juliana...to promote love and prayer to the Blessed Sacrament. St Juliana pray for us. Fr Stephen
